As most of us are finding themselves being at home more than usual, we would like to spark some inspiration to get trough this time as it offers us a opportunity to slow down and reflect. Therefore we would like to encourage you to think about the following:
What is the thing or project you always wanted to do but never got the time for?
Perhaps it is something practical as organising your storage space. Maybe you neglected a much-loved hobby throughout the years. Perhaps you always wanted to learn a language, or read a certain book.
In order to inspire you, we have compiled a list of suggestions to entertain oneself at home.
Care for your clothes
Start by taking your time to clean out your closet. We love this video where stylist Allison Bornstein shows make-up artist Violette a technique to get rid of clothes you do not wear anymore, and how to give your neglected items a new life. Once you have edited your collection, take your time to to clean and show your clothes and shoes some love. For instance, polish all your leather and suede boots to make them look like new again. You can also repair the small defects in your favourite items, like closing a hole or attaching lost buttons. Lastly, take care of your knitwear. You can read here how you can do this best.
Care for your body and mind
Get some exercise in your routine by practicing one of the many available workout videos online. In case you need something easy and relaxing in this time, we highly recommend yoga practice that has been beautifully simplified for beginners by Adrienne.
Practice a new skill
Pick up a new language by daily practicing on Duolingo. Perhaps you want to enhance both your cooking skills and your Italian? See here how to make an immunity-boosting Tuscan soup while learning Italian. You can also use this time to get familiar with a new cuisine. For instance, try to make traditional Japanese ramen from scratch with the help of these tutorials.
Revisit old favourites
Think about the things that used to give you a lot of joy. Perhaps you can re-read one of your all-time favourite books or watch a movie that always puts a smile of your face. Spend some time going trough musical classics and create a playlist of your most listened songs throughout your life.
Connect with your loved-ones
Just because we cannot be together physically, does not mean we cannot connect. Call or video call your friends and family. Perhaps even start a group-call or try out virtual games. We like to recommend the app Houseparty that allows you and your friends and family to play games while video calling.
We hope to have sparked your imagination and to have inspired you to spend your time doing the things you love most.
