W Hotel Amsterdam

Starwood Hotels, known from the St. Regis, Sheraton and Le Méridien hotels, has recently opened a new W Hotel. It is located behind the Royal Palace at Damsquare in Amsterdam. The former government building of KAS Bank has been transformed into a hotel with an impressive mixture of historic and contemporary design.

The exposed copper pipes in the hotel refer to the telephone and electric wires, which were part of the telephone switchboard.

Just like all the other W hotels it has a minimalistic and modern interior design and all the rooms and public spaces have special names. The lobby is called “Living Room” and the pool is called “Wet”. We would book a room especially because of the “Wet” - this pool on the 22-meter long balcony is heated during winter.

The concierge is called “Whatever Whenever” and this name is taken very seriously. Whatever you are looking for; cards for a special play or even a beautiful evening dress, the W Amsterdam hotel team will arrange it for you.

The hotel is not only a place to stay over, but also a vibrant meeting point where a lot happens. Workshops, expositions and the Amsterdam Dance Event of last week are all part of the lively and energizing atmosphere.
